SEVENTY album released by Linda Lamon
With a track list that covers six genres of music, Linda Lamon has released her third album SEVENTY to showcase six decades of song crafting.
“The title is a tongue in cheek reference to Adele’s album ‘30’ as some of the pieces were written in my thirties but I only got round to releasing them when I was seventy years young!“ Linda says.
The ten songs, with Linda on vocals and harmonies, were recorded in Nashville, USA and Bath, UK and are a mix of Rock, Pop, Country, Folk, and Latin Bossa-Nova. Additionally, ‘Look to the Universe’ probably fits in the category of ‘classical crossover’ with beautiful cello playing by Beth Porter and classical guitar by John Breese, against the melody of the classical guitar piece “The Anonymous Romance.’
“One of my earliest compositions on the album is ‘Music In The Box’ and I have placed this rock track at the top because it tells the story of how my music journey was peppered with prejudice in my teens – girls in the 1960’s (especially working class like me) were not encouraged into the music business and there was an expectation for us to be married by the age of 20 – or we were left on the shelf.
“From the age of about ten I had a small music box with a ballerina that twirled around to the tune of Swan Lake by Tchaikovsky and I was absolutely spellbound by it – it opened the floodgates for me to explore music in every form, but I was met with so many barriers back then. Now of course, I have the freedom of ‘retirement’, my children and grandchildren are grown up, – I have a reasonable amount of financial stability and the world is a different place, which embraces female musicians and songwriters – but we’ve a long way to go yet.” Linda says.
The tracks were recorded in Nashville, Manchester and Bath, UK and are out there from 18th October on iTunes for preview and pre-order and will be in digital stores from 17th November, with physical CD’s available at yet to be announced live launch gigs in 2022/23.
