The Story Behind The Song

Written in the car while waiting for a delayed ferry in Dublin, it’s a sort of postcard home to my two daughters. My late husband, David Conneely and I visited Ireland, where we both have family connections. We travelled mainly around the Burren/Galway and Connemara area (where many Conneely’s still live) and I wanted to capture the celtic atmosphere, the warmth of the people and the beauty & mystery of the landscape.

It seemed a natural progression to stay with a traditional Irish music feel, but I added my own interpretation with a Bluegrass influence, using double bass, mandolin, banjo aptly played by a young Kayne Burgon with myself on acoustic guitar.

The song was commended in the 2012 UK International Song Competition, coming within the top 2% of the 6,000 entries.
