“You pledged your love to me
As the sun went down,on the cross,
For all the world to see.”
“The wind was blowing warm
Midsummers sky cerise and still
That evening when I said I Will.”
It took my breath away when my late husband led me to a local landmark high on a hill to propose. The words “Linda, I love you will you marry me” were written on a pink cardboard heart pinned to the 30ft high cross overlooking the plains of Greater Manchester as the sun set. How could I not write a song about that?
David passed away shortly after we were married and I used the song on a CD to help raise funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MND) and St Anne’s Hospice.
I Will was awarded a Commended Entry Certificate in the Love Songs Category in the UK Songwriting Contest 2012.
